ExplicitWeb is brought you by our lovely host, PearSpace.

In this week’s episode, John O’Nolan takes the reigns and steps things up a level with 3 amazing guests. First up in Chris Spooner of SpoonGraphics fame, giving us a modest insight into his meteoric rise within the Web industry. Following Chris, we talk to Jack Osborne from HTML5 Doctor about how he got involved in the site and his thought on the state of HTML5. Last but not least, we have Gavin Strange from JamFactory and Aardman Digital (yes, the same people that invented Wallace and Gromit!). Gavin infects the ExplicitWeb team with his humour and tells us about how awesome it is to work at Aardman, as well as sharing some great pieces of advice learnt from his successful career in design.

When it comes to podcasting, we’re not professionals. Just like Smashing Magazine doesn’t have the editorial prestige of the Sunday Times, we are not aspiring to be professional talk-radio hosts. We aren’t getting paid for this, we don’t have any advertisers (yet), and we can’t afford expensive equipment. We’re doing this entirely because we enjoy it and we think other people might enjoy it too.

On that basis, we do things our way. Every so often we say things like “fuck” and “shit” and “donkeyrapist” not because we think swearing is cool and trendy, as one endearing listener asked, but because we aren’t trying to be anything we’re not. We’re talking to you through a podcast in the same way we would talk to you if you were right here having a beer with us, or a glass of wine – if that’s more your thing.

Occasionally, you will hear doors squeak, phones ring, dogs bark, and our respective others hammering away at the insides of the cupboards that we’ve locked them in. Occasionally, we may disolve into fits of laughter when Hannah’s chair squeaks like a dying dog. Occasionally we may add random stuff to the end of the podcast for no real reason.

We think these things set us apart from the rest because they let you get to know who we are and, hopefully, laugh along with us.

Thanks for being so awesome :)

Episode 5 - WordPress 3.0 Special with Core Developer Andrew...

Episode 5 - WordPress 3.0 Special with Core Developer Andrew Nacin [direct link]

Hi Folks,

We realise this is less than ideal, but hope our listeners appreciate that the personal nature of our podcast is what makes it special.
